Creating custom software for efficient data analysis

LumiTools 2.0
LumiTools is a collection of software tools for the advanced processing and analysis of luminescence images, such as those commonly used for photovoltaic research and manufacturing quality control. LumiTools has been designed to enhance accessibility of advanced calibration techniques and streamline common luminescence image workflows. The software capabilities include:
– Improvement of image data accuracy through automated flatfield correction and point-spread-function deconvolution
– Automatic rotation and cropping of samples image data
– Automated image alignment and pixel-by-pixel comparison
– Conversion of qualitative luminescene image data to performance metrics such as effective lifetime and implied open circuit voltage
The LumiTools 2.0 software is developed by Dr David Payne. It is currently in Beta testing and can be downloaded for free from the LumiTools 2.0 page.

AI Grade Prediction
The AI Grade prediction can be used to train and apply machine learning models using gradebook data of assessments within a teaching unit. The model can be trained using data from previous unit deliveries and can then be applied to current grading data part way through a delivery in order to estimate the final grade for all students. The resulting predictions can be used to identify students in need of additional support. Benefits of the tool include:
– Prediction of a students final grade 50-70% through the semester
– Efficient and targetted support
– Self testing of accuracy with typical predictions within 5%
The AI Grade Prediction software has been co-developed by Dr David Payne and Dr Binesh Puthen-Veettil. It is currently undergoing internal testing at Macquarie University.
